There are several statistical areas used: Significant urban areas, Local government areas, Greater Capital City- and statistical areas level 2, 3 and 4.

Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS)

The Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) provides a framework of statistical areas used by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)

  ↳ Statistical Areas Level 4 (SA4)

   ↳ Statistical Areas Level 3 (SA3)

    ↳ Statistical Areas Level 2 (SA2)

Two other structures are presented here: Significant Urban Areas (SUA) and Local Government Areas (LGA). In most cases ABS 2016 digital boundaries were used.
